What is the ColonoscopyAssist program for the uninsured?

The Colonoscopy Assist program is designed to provide affordable colonoscopy procedures for uninsured individuals. The program offers colonoscopies at a subsidized rate of $1075 in various metropolitan areas across 33 states in the United States. The program covers all costs related to the procedure, including physician fees, facility fees, sedation/anesthesia costs, polyp removal, and pathology lab fees for an unlimited number of polyps found during the procedure. The flat rate does not include consultations or follow-up care after the colonoscopy.

To schedule a colonoscopy through the ColonoscopyAssist program, you can request an appointment through their website or contact their appointment line. Once the request is made, you will have the option to select the closest facility and complete the necessary scheduling forms online. Payment for the procedure is due prior to the appointment and can be made using debit cards, credit cards, HSA cards, checks, or money orders. If you are unable to afford the entire payment upfront, you may be eligible for an interest-free payment plan through a grant.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, you can do so up to 2 business days prior to your scheduled appointment without any penalty. In case of cancellation, you will receive a full refund if you have made a payment.

The program also offers the option to schedule an Upper Endoscopy procedure at a subsidized rate alongside a colonoscopy. The cost for an Upper Endoscopy alone is $975-$1175, or $820 if scheduled together with a colonoscopy.

After the procedure, the physician will inform you about their findings, and you will receive a copy of the formal report from the program. The report will also be sent to your primary physician.

You can use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to pay for your colonoscopy through the program. The program will provide you with a receipt that can be used when filing Form 8889 with your taxes.

The cost of a colonoscopy can vary depending on the city and facility, but without insurance, patients can expect to pay an average of $2500 – $3000 for a colonoscopy. The ColonoscopyAssist program offers a significantly lower cost to make the procedure more affordable and accessible to underinsured individuals.

Colonoscopies are generally not painful but can cause discomfort. The program includes sedation/anesthesia costs in the price to ensure your comfort during the procedure.

To get started with the ColonoscopyAssist program, you can request an appointment on their website.
